Winning the International Treble, Henderson joined the Elite Captain with Iniesta and Ramos

Following in the footsteps of Sergio Ramos and Andres Iniesta, Jordan Henderson was one of seven captains in Europe who had helped his team win the international treble.

Henderson has just brought Liverpool to the 2019 Club World Cup championship. He helped the Reds win the trophy after defeating Monterrey in the semifinals and Flamengo in the final round.

This victory itself is very historic. This is the first time Liverpool won the trophy in their history.

The victory also creates new history. Liverpool are the only English team that can register an international treble in the same calendar year. Jurgen Klopp's troops were previously champions of the 2018-19 Champions League. After that they won the UEFA Super Cup trophy.

For Henderson, the victory also recorded important history. He became the only English captain to ever bring his team to the international treble.

His name was entitled to enter the elite ranks of captains in Europe who had achieved the same achievement. Among them Sergio Ramos, captain of Real Madrid and Andres Iniesta, former Barcelona captain.

It is not easy to be able to record this achievement. Legendary players like Paolo Maldini from AC Milan and Javier Zanetti from Inter Milan even failed to do so.

Fernando Hierro is a Real Madrid legend. He recorded the international treble achievement in 2002.

Carles Puyol

He is a Barcelona legend. The player who used to play in the central defender sector brought Blaugrana won an international trophy hat trick in 2009.

In the Champions League, Puyol helped Barca beat Manchester United 2-0. Then at the UEFA Super Cup, Barcelona ended Shakhtar Donetsk's resistance with a narrow 1-0 score.

At the Club World Cup, Barcelona was confronted with the Argentine representative, Estudiantes, in Abu Dhabi. Just like Liverpool, Puyol and his friends were forced to play through extra time, before finally winning 2-1.

Philipp Lahm

He is a legend of German football and Bayern Munich. This versatile defender helped Bayern win the international treble in 2013.

In the Champions League, he was brought by Bayern to beat his compatriot team, Borussia Dortmund, who at that time were still handled by Jurgen Klopp. Dortmund was defeated by a score of 2-1.

In the UEFA Super Cup, Bayern face Chelsea. Both of them drew 2-2 until extra time round. In the shootout round, Lahm et al finally won 5-4.

At the Club World Cup, Bayern Munich was confronted with Morocco's representative, King Casablanca in Marrakech. The result, Lahm cs won 2-0.

Andres Iniesta

Andres Iniesta is a Barcelona legend. Remarkably, he did not only once, but twice won the international treble in 2011 and 2015.

In 2011, he brought Barca in the Champions League to beat Manchester United 3-1. Then in 2015, he brought the Blaugrana to defeat Juventus 3-1 too.

Then the 2011 UEFA Super Cup, Barca brought the win over FC Porto with a score of 2-0. While in 2015, Blaugrana met Sevilla and finally won 5-4 after going through the extra time round.

In the 2011 edition of the Club World Cup, Barca met representatives of Brazil, Santos. Iniesta and friends won a landslide victory in the match held in Yokohama, Japan.

Then in the 2015 edition of the Club World Cup, Barca met with representatives of Argentina, River Plate. The duel which was also held in Yokohama was won by the Blaugrana by a landslide score of 3-0.

Iker Casillas

He is a legend and former number one goalkeeper for Real Madrid. Los Blancos has been brought to reach the international treble in 2014.

In the Champions League, Real Madrid fight Atletico Madrid in the final. After going through the extra time round, Casillas brought his team to win with a landslide score of 4-1.

Meanwhile in the UEFA Super Cup event, Real Madrid was reunited with another Spanish representative, Sevilla. This time Casillas and friends won 2-0 straight.

At the Club World Cup event, Madrid met with representatives of Argentina, San Lorenzo in Marrakesch, Morocco. Casillas led his team to a 2-0 win.

Sergio Ramos

He is the current captain of Real Madrid. He led Los Blancos to win international trebles twice in 2016 and 2017.

In the Champions League in 2016, Ramos led Madrid to beat Atletico Madrid 5-3 on penalties. In 2017, he helped his team defeat Juventus 4-1.

Then in the 2016 UEFA Super Cup, Madrid faced Sevilla and won 3-2. In 2017, Los Blancos tamed Manchester United 2-1.

At the 2016 Club World Cup, Madrid met with representatives of Japan, Kashima Antlers in the final. After going through a penalty shootout, Ramos and friends won 4-2.

The following year, in the final in Abu Dhabi, Real Madrid met Gremio. The Brazilian representative was conquered by Sergio Ramos et al with a score of 1-0.
