McGregor Targeting Masvidal's BMF if Failed to Rematch Opponent Khabib

The President of the UFC, Dana White, said that Conor McGregor was aiming for Jorge Masvidal if his desire to rematch against Khabib Nurmagemodov failed to materialize.

Conor McGregor will return to compete in the octagon arena at UFC 246 which will take place on January 19, 2020.

Fighters from the Republic of Ireland will compete against Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States in the Welter class.

The UFC 246 match will be Conor McGregor's first match after undergoing sanctions given by the Nevada Athletics Commission (NSAC).

The fighter nicknamed The Notorius was sentenced to six-month ban from competing.

The sentence was given due to the riots that occurred after McGregor lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in UFC 229, October 2018.

If you win against Donald Cerrone, McGregor's chance to return to meet with Khabib Nurmagomedov is even greater.

McGregor's comeback to the octagon arena received great attention including the UFC president, Dana White.

from MMAFighting, Dana White himself said that Conor McGregor was eyeing the BMF belt which is still held by Jorge Masvidal.

The Irish Republican fighter is after the title if he fails to fulfill his ambition to fight again with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Because, Khabib himself is scheduled to return to undergo a battle that is not less heavy by meeting Tony Ferguson in April 2020.

In addition, the UFC lightweight class champions will not ride the ring in early summer or until early fall because it is still included in the atmosphere of Ramadan.

"Conor has this idea too, if things don't go as he wishes and he (does) fight (against Khabib), he will consider (Jorge) Masvidal," Dana White said.

"He wants the belt from Masvidal, I will do it and I say, it is fun and extraordinary. We will see what happens," he added.

Jorge Masvidal himself previously managed to grab the BMF belt after defeating Nate Diaz in UFC 244 November 2019.

In the match that took place at Madison Square Garden, New York, United States, Masvidal won after Nate Diaz was considered unable to continue the fight when entering the fourth round.
