Liverpool won the 2019 Club World Cup champion by beating Brazilian club Flamengo in the final of the party held in Doha, Qatar last weekend.

This trophy also complements Liverpool's outstanding achievements throughout 2019. Previously, the Reds had already won the Champions League and European Super Cup.

Not a proud trophy

Scholes himself won the Club World Cup trophy with Manchester United in 2008. However, he claimed not to be overly excited by the success.

"You want to achieve it when you are there but I don't think that's something we really want to win," Scholes said on BBC Radio Five Live.

"Even if someone now says, 'What trophies have you won years ago?' I don't think I will mention the Club World Cup. I won't say it. I'm not kidding, I'm serious! " Scholes added.

"But you know, like everyone else, maybe [the trophy] will become more important over the years," he said.

Liverpool celebrations are excessive

Furthermore, Scholes satirized Liverpool celebrations which he considered excessive. In fact, he dares to mention that there is a personal trophy that is more prestigious than LIverpool's trophy.

"It looks like Liverpool are enjoying it, they are celebrating and maybe they will call it and why not, but when we played at that time it wasn't as serious as now," Scholes said.

"If you look back now I think you are quite happy but I don't think that's something you want as a player," he added.

"My badminton trophy!" Scholes answered when asked what was more meaningful to him, between the Club World Cup trophy or his local badminton trophy.
