Venus Williams Quits Brisbane International because of an Injury

The American female tennis player, Venus Williams, was forced to withdraw from her participation in Brisbane International following the injury she received during training.

Venus Williams managed to get a wildcard in the Brisbane International event.

Wild cards are one of the facilities in tennis tournaments given to players to be able to compete in large tournaments.

Tennis players whose rankings are not yet possible or because they are late registering are entitled to get wild cards.

However, the 39-year tennis player failed to take part in the event at the January 6 title due to injury.

"Unfortunately, I will not start my season in Brisbane because of an unexpected injury during training," Venus was quoted as saying by BolaSport.com from thestar.com.

The committee said they would announce who had the right to replace the position left by Venus Williams.

Previously, Venus will join the world number one Ash Barty, Karolina Pliskova, and Naomi Osaka.
