MotoGP 2020: Marc Marquez Opened the Rivalry Problem with New Drivers and Strategy for Next Season

Marc Marquez talked about the 2019 season that had just ended, his rivalry with the new riders, and his strategy in MotoGP 2020.

Marc stressed that since the 2019 season began, both the team and him together set their main target is to get a world title.

Then while preparing for that strategy, they also tried to win the title for the Repsol Honda team.

As a result, these two targets can be realized well. Marc became the 2019 MotoGP world champion, and Honda won the Triple Crown.

"This race (the 2019 season) was perfect, because on the circuit where we fought we became champions or second place, the only mistake was in Austin," he said
Marc crashed in the Austin series, where he had to be dragged off the track while driving around the corner.

He tried to lift the motor again and drive it and Marc had to go back to the paddock.

"Crash in Austin was the first half of the season, when it used a new engine. We developed to reach top speed, but when you reach it, you lose some things, we struggle with the braking component. And that is my fault," he said, who regrets because he got a score of 0 in the Austin series.

Very competitive motorcycle competition

 The Spaniard explained that the competition of motor engines in the premier class is very competitive.

The problem faced by Marc last season was that the body of the motor could be less constant.

He compares it to Yamaha and cites Fabio Quartararo as an example.

"When Quartararo starts to be fast, all Yamaha riders start to get faster. And of course, Quartararo's main strength is speed. And I believe that with experience, he will become consistent in the race, he will become more dangerous next year." I'm Marc.
Marc admitted if the rookie rider's moment would be a threat going forward. They will become more competitive.

Marc said, "I admit that it could be that next year, you will be dealing with young riders and faster than you. You need to develop."

Marc is the most advanced Honda racer

It turns out to be the champion and the fastest in one manufacturer does not necessarily make Marc proud.

There is one thing that makes him disappointed, he is always alone in front.

Yes, Marc has always been number 1 in Honda and even in balapa, we can see the distance between Marc and other Honda riders stretches quite far.

"Of course there is disappointment that I am the only Honda ahead. But Honda is a difficult motorbike, I mean Crutchlow, Lorenzo and Nakagami they are trying," he explained. \

Strategy for the 2020 season

According to Marc, the 2019 season, Honda focused on engine development. While for the 2020 season, this Japanese manufacturer will prioritize chassis or frame components, and continue to study motorcycles to be more competitive.

He also talked about his new teammate, world champion Moto2 2019, who was none other than his own younger brother, Alex Marquez.

My teammate next year is the Moto2 world champion, and he is my brother. I did not encourage the situation. I didn't push Honda, and I didn't push my brother. Because in the end he must be here. He (Alex) agreed and he wanted to do it. And I really respect him. Because if you are a Moto2 rider and this opportunity comes to you, you can't say no, "Marc said.

Marc realized that Alex would face a lot of pressure, because he would always be compared to him.

But he hopes Alex can stay focused on the competition and do his best.
