Lin Jarvis Reveals the Purpose of Yamaha Wants to Recruit Jorge Lorenzo

Yamaha Managing Director, Lin Jarvis, revealed the real purpose of his team recruiting Jorge Lorenzo in the 2008 season.

After two consecutive seasons to dominate the 250cc class (now Moto2), Jorge Lorenzo began his adventure in the main MotoGP class with Yamaha.

In its inaugural season, X-Fuera (Lorenzo's nickname) posted a total of six podiums with one win.

Lorenzo's only puppet victory in the 2008 MotoGP was achieved after a fierce appearance at the Estoril Circuit, Portugal.

Slowly, the man from Spain was able to improve his performance as a fellow duet classmate Valentino Rossi.

Jorge Lorenzo managed to taste the sweetness of the world title for the first time in the first class in the 2010 season.

After that, he returned to become king two seasons later or in 2012, and finally the 2015 season.

2016 will be the last year for Lorenzo to race under the Yamaha banner before finally choosing Ducati as the next port.

After two seasons with Borgo Panigale's squad, the owner of number 99 decided to retire after performing poorly with Repsol Honda throughout 2019.

on that occasion, Lin Jarvis admitted that Lorenzo had been targeted by Yamaha since 2006 and was prepared to replace instead of being a teammate of Valentino Rossi.

At that time, his team considered that the rider nicknamed The Doctor would retire as a MotoGP racer and switch to F1 ground jet racing.

It was quite reasonable for Yamaha, considering in 2006, Valentino Rossi also received an invitation from Ferrari, to try to feel the sensation behind the wheel of F1 cars.

Repsol Honda racer, Jorge Lorenzo, decided to retire from MotoGP due to a back injury he suffered.

"We brought him to replace Valentino Rossi who we thought would retire and move to F1 in 2006," he said again.

No doubt Lin Jarvis felt strange when he saw it, where Lorenzo had retired and Valentino Rossi is still racing until now.
