Manchester United midfielder, Nemanja Matic, is certain to stay at Old Trafford.
Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Nemanja Matic will remain at Manchester United, at least until the end of the season.
Matic is reportedly open to leave United this January.
However, the injuries received by Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba require Solskjaer to hold him out so that United have several options in their midfield.
"Nemanja will stay at United," Solskjaer said.
"He (Matic) has worked hard to get back and now he is here. He is playing well."
The 31-year-old did not get many opportunities to play this season.
He only appeared nine times with United.
Matic can leave the team at the end of the season, but United still have the option to tie him to the club until 2021.
"There are always opportunities (new contracts), of course there are," said Solskjaer.
"If a player comes out, you have to be ready and take a chance, I think he is fine," he added.
Previously, United had sold their midfielder, Marouane Fellaini, to the Chinese Club, Shandong Luneng FC.
Midfielder Ander Herrera also left for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last summer, so their midfield stock is indeed thin.
United failed to recruit a midfielder to replace Fellaini or Herrera.
Red Devils want to recruit Paris Saint Germain midfielder Adrian Rabiot last season, but failed to get it
Rabiot prefers to join Juventus after United failed to secure tickets to the Champions League.
