Delonte West was hit by a wrist surgery injury
Boston guard Delonte West was hit by an injury undergoing wrist surgery Tuesday to repair damaged veins in his right hand, the NBA club said Tuesday.
"He has to rest for a long time. We cannot be strengthened in a number of matches," said Celtics coach Doc Rivers.
West missed several games earlier this season after being suspended for 10 matches due to weapons possession problems.
In five matches, West averaged 6.8 points and 2.0 assists.
West suffered an injury last Wednesday against New Jersey, because he fell while fighting over a ball. He could not stand up, then limped off the field.
The Celtics are level one with Orlando as the best team in the Eastern Conference with a 12-4 record.
