Marc Marquez Dreamed of Joining Dakar Rally After Retiring from MotoGP

The motor racer from the Repsol Honda team, Marc Marquez, had a dream to join the Dakar Rally if he had retired from MotoGP.

Marc Marquez is the MotoGP world champion in 2019 season.

Marquez won his sixth world title in the highest class of motor racing convincingly.

By collecting 420 points, the Spaniard was even able to break the record as the first successful MotoGP racer to reach more than 400 points in a season.

Success in the MotoGP race makes Marquez want to get a new challenge.

Marquez admitted that he was used to difficulties and this made him want to try the Dakar Rally one day.

"I like the Dakar Rally because of more difficulties in the race,

"As you know, I have become accustomed to difficulties. All the different situations that can occur and unexpected events that arise in the Dakar Rally make it very enjoyable to watch every year," Marquez added.

"Although at this time I am sure that I want to continue driving MotoGP, the Dakar Rally is still a dream in the future and I will consider racing in Dakar," Marquez said.

"This is a very difficult test that you have to prepare very well. Racing in Dakar Rally is not like MotoGP racing."

"There is a lot of preparation involved, physical, navigation and technical. To get there you have to think hard about it and plan everything," Marquez added.

Marquez is currently recovering from the shoulder surgery he underwent at the end of November.

Ahead of the preseason examination in Sepang (7-9 February), Marquez is expected to have recovered from his injury.
