Serena Follow Venus in Round Three of the Australian Open

Serena Williams joined her sister Venus in the third round of the Australian Open, (21/1) when competition continued.

Serena without difficulty defeated Czech Petra Kvitova 6-2, 6-1 and kept the opportunity to defend the title she won last year when she beat Australian Sybille Bammer 6-2, 7-5.

Meanwhile, 2008 Serbian champions Novak Djokovic, Nikolay Davydenko of Russia and Australian Lleyton Hewitt also advanced.

Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki also drove to beat German Julia Goerges 6-3, 6-1.

Former world number one Ana Ivanovic was knocked out after losing 6-7, 7-5, 6-4 to non-seeded Argentine Gisela Dulko and Marcos Baghdatis won over 17th-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer.

Baghdatis, who was previously injured in 2006, was able to show a brilliant performance after bulldozing Ferrer with 4-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3, 6-1.

"I see him a little tired, and that helps me to be able to fight again," Baghdatis said.

"I saw a window open, and that's just how it went through, and then my tennis game came back again, I started playing well, I'm happy to win," he added.
