Slipped Incident Still Ringing, Steven Gerrard Blames Liverpool Defender
Liverpool - Steven Gerrard does not want to be blamed for the release of the title of the Premier League champions following a slipped incident he experienced. He actually blamed his teammate at Liverpool.
The phenomenal incident occurred on April 27, 2014 ago. Gerrard slipped and Demba Ba, the Chelsea striker at the time, was able to score against Liverpool.
These goals are very fatal because you could say that is why Liverpool failed to win the 2013-2014 Premier League champions. At the end of the season, Manchester City managed to lift the championship trophy by a difference of just two points.
Speaking with his former teammate, Jamie Carragher, on a podcast program, Gerrard said that failure was not entirely his fault.
"You should be in a better position to prevent that goal from happening. The defender's position is too high and wide!" Gerrard said to Carragher.
A week after the incident, Liverpool were held to Crystal Palace despite a 3-0 lead until finally points were able to be passed by City. Could be, Gerrard's opinion has a point.
Still ringing in his head
Steven Gerrard, who now trains Glasgow Rangers, admits it is difficult to forget the slip incident. He said that still often ringed in his memory.
"I still think about it, almost every day. When analyzing the entire season, I understand that the failure of Liverpool was not because of the slip incident, but still I am always ringing," he said.
