Manchester United Interested in Borrowing Atletico Madrid Midfielder

Continue to be associated with Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United is also reportedly glancing at an Atletico Madrid midfielder to be brought in this January.

Man United fans are being lulled by rumors about Bruno Fernandes's transfer to Old Trafford. But according to news from the Manchester Evening News the Red Devils stronghold is also targeting other midfielders in the market this winter.

The player who is reportedly being approached by Ole Gunnar-Solksjaer's squad is Marcos Llorente. Atletico's 24-year-old midfielder is indeed having difficulty getting a chance to play in his team.

This caught the attention of United who were also looking for potential players who had difficulty getting playing time. Only appearing three times as a starter in La Liga and getting a 16-minute chance to appear with Los Rojiblancos in the Champions League, Llorente might be interested in finding a new atmosphere.

Atletico itself does not necessarily want to permanently release Llorente imported from Real Madrid worth 35 million Euros last summer. But the loan offer is very likely to be accepted by Diego Simeone's squad.

Bringing players on loan is an idea that had previously been indicated by Solksjaer himself. In a statement he made in November 2019, the Norwegian coach said that borrowing players is a good option to do in January.

According to the former striker, it will be very difficult to bring players on a winter transfer. This is because not many clubs want to sell their players just like that.

"There aren't many clubs that want to sell players they still want to keep in January. Maybe we can bring in one or two players on loan who don't need a lot of money, just to help the team, "Solksjaer told the media last November.

Interest in Llorente does not close Fernandes transfers

United fans need not worry if their club will stop hunting for Fernandes if they get Llorente. This is because Solksjaer himself also had said on Tuesday if they are targeting more than one new player.

"We plan to bring in some new players," said the coach. "Strengthening the team on various sides, but the core strength of this squad, its attitudes and physical strength are all there."
