Paris - Mauro Icardi is undergoing a "honeymoon" with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). His status as a loan player from Inter Milan made him eager to prove himself. Icardi seemed to be born again, proving he was not finished.
The slick performance so far shown by Icardi pleases his coach at PSG, Thomas Tuchel. The coach assessed the arrival of Icardi to his team had a positive impact.
The Argentine striker does not seem to have difficulty adapting to PSG, especially working with players on the world class front line from Angel Di Maria, Kylian Mbappe to Neymar.
Most recently, Icardi scored a hat trick in PSG's 6-1 victory over Saint-Etienne in the Ligue 1 continuation 2019-2020 (1/9/2020). Additional three goals that bring Icardi collected nine goals in 10 matches.
Tuchel did not cover up he was impressed with Icardi's performance.
"I am impressed with it," Tuchel said, quoted by Goal International.
"I just met him here (PSG). He is very reliable and very, very professional. He understands football tactically, works defensively and is very, very efficient," he continued.
"His performance and reliability for the team was very impressive, but I don't want to talk about purchasing options," Tuchel added.
Reluctantly in a Rush
So far PSG has indeed seemed reluctant to rush to change Icardi's status from loan to permanent. Apparently, the defending champions Ligue 1 club still needs more time before making a decision.
PSG has the option to change Icardi's loan status to permanent in the transfer market next summer with a value of 65 million euros
Icardi joined PSG in the final seconds before the closing of the transfer market last summer. He was contracted for one year on loan.
