Alex Marquez Asked to Work Hard Ahead of His MotoGP Debut

Repsol Honda's manager, Alberto Puig, asked Alex Marquez to work hard ahead of his debut in the first MotoGP class.

Repsol Honda officially chose Alex Marquez to replace Jorge Lorenzo who decided to retire ahead of the 2019 Valencia MotoGP which became the last racing series last season.

The choice of Alex by Repsol Honda could not be separated from the 2019 Moto2 world title which he won with the Marc VDS team.

Racing for a Repsol Honda classmate in MotoGP next season will certainly be a challenge for Alex Marquez.

Because the team with a single wing logo is a team and a big manufacturer that has a long history in the first class.

In addition, Alex Marquez inevitably will be faced with the shadow of his brother, Marc Marquez, who has recorded some flashy achievements.

Responding to that, Alberto Puig as the Repsol Honda manager requested that Alex stay focused on working hard to find his best rhythm.

This is reasonable considering that in the pre-season test session that took place in Valencia and Jerez, the 23-year-old rider has not appeared ferocious when on RC213V.

"You and the learning chart will decide whether Alex succeeds or not," said Alberto Puig, quoted by BolaSport.com from Motorsport-Total.

"Alex has to work, sacrifice and try, it's not about his talent, but how much effort he has to get involved," the 52-year-old added.

Alberto Puig also has his own benchmarks in evaluating and assessing the appearance of Alex Marquez.

"I believe that for Alex this is a unique opportunity, we need to evaluate it based on category level and results," Alberto Puig said.

Alex Marquez's preparation for the preseason test will take place earlier than Marc Marquez's.

New MotoGP regulations make Alex Marquez and other debutants may re-try RC213V motorcycles since the shakedown test in Sepang on 2-4 February 2020.

Meanwhile, Marquez and the old MotoGP racers will just pave in the same place three days ago, namely on February 7-9, 2020.

The MotoGP Championship 2020 season will open with the inaugural series race at the Losail International Circuit on March 8.
