Chelsea Disconnect from Yokohama, Chelsea Find Sponsors for Man United.

Chelsea players celebrate the goals scored by Willian against Tottenham Hotspur in the London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, (12/22/2019).

Chelsea ended their collaboration with Yokohama Tires as the main sponsor whose name was emblazoned on the chest of their jersey.

Cooperation between Chelsea and Yokohama Tires, a tire company from Japan, has been ongoing since 2015.

The cooperation contract between Chelsea and Yokohama Tires is worth a total of 200 million pounds or 40 million pounds per year.

In 2015, the contract value was number two highest in the English League.

Chelsea at that time only lost to Manchester United, who get 53 million pounds per year from Chevrolet.

Over the past five years, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur also have jersey sponsors whose value is equal to Chelsea's Yokohama.

The value of the contract Manchester United and Chevrolet even then increased to 64 million pounds per year.

Chelsea have been trying to discuss a contract extension with Yokohama Tires since last October.

Surely the new contract is expected to increase in value.

However, the agreement does not seem to be reached.

On the club's official Twitter account on Friday (1/24/2020), Chelsea announced that Yokohama Tires continued to work with them, but would only become an "official global tire partner".

With this situation, we can be sure that the Blues are looking for new jersey sponsors.

Chelsea wants to get a sponsor whose cooperation value is at least as close to what Manchester United got from Chevrolet.

Currently, Chelsea are third with Manchester City (Etihad Airways / 45 million pounds) under Manchester United (Chevrolet / 64).
