Conor McGregor Reveals Strong Reason to Weltherweight, Not Avoiding Khabib

Conor McGregor's decision to return to the UFC welterweight class was not without reason.

Conor McGregor is scheduled to fight Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Sunday (1/19/2020).

The match against Donald Cerrone will be played by Conor McGregor in the welterweight class.

Conor McGregor revealed his goal of increasing body weight to 170 pounds (77.1 kg), a requirement to appear in the welterweight class

Many thought the 31-year-old man went up to the welterweight class because he wanted to challenge Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title.

However, McGregor did not really care about the BMF title held by Jorge Masvidal.

Precisely McGregor has another purpose. McGregor was eager to have the title weltherweight from Kamaru Usman's hand.

Because, if he succeeded in doing so, McGregor became the only UFC fighter who was able to hold the championship titles from three different classes.

For your information, McGregor won the 2016 UFC featherweight and lightweight classes in the past.

"I want the welther class belt. I want the unification battle to win the welther class title,

"I like the appearance of Kamaru Usman. I also like Colby (Covington). I am open to competing with anyone there.

"I don't really care about BMF, to be honest, I want the gold, light class and welterweight class. That's the belt I'm chasing now," he said.

The UFC lightweight title is still held by Khabib Nurmagomedov, the fighter who defeated McGregor in 2018.
