The 2019 season Moto2 is a mystery to the Tech3 team

Red Bull Tech3 KTM team boss Herve Poncharal said that the 2019 Moto2 season was a puzzle.

Changes made by the Tech3 team ahead of the 2019 Moto2 season.

After nine seasons (2010-2018) using its own design chassis, namely Tech3-Mistral 610, Tech3 switched to KTM.

Unfortunately for Tech3, the two drivers, Marco Bezzecchi and Philipp Ottl, received poor results throughout Moto2 2019.

Bezzecchi who promoted to Moto2 with a record of three wins in Moto3 only collected 17 points in 19 races, while Otti did not reach a single point.

Poncharal, who is the owner of the Tech3 team, couldn't help but think about the minor results obtained by both of his drivers.

"Moto2 2019 is probably one of the biggest mysteries of motor racing in the last few years," Poncharal said by BolaSport.com from Speedweek.com.

"Because since KTM resigned as a chassis manufacturer in August, we have not received new development."

The 2019 season Moto2 is a mystery to the Tech3 team

Tech3 is not the only team that got into trouble when the Austrian manufacturer closed their chassis project in the Moto2 class.

Even so with other KTM chassis users such as Ajo, American Racing, and Angel Nieto.

Even so, the anomaly occurred when the Ajo team actually experienced a rapid increase in the second half of the Moto2 2019 season.

Ajo driver, Brad Binder, won four wins in seven races which lasted from September until the end of the competition.

Binder's position in the standings skyrocketed. Was thrown from the top 10, he became Moto2 runner-up with a difference of three points from the champion, Alex Marquez.

"Nothing has changed since August. Motorcycles and drivers remain the same," Poncharal said.

Poncharal explained that there were four types of chassis available after the fourth Moto2 series at the Jerez Circuit which were named V3, V5, V6, and V7.

Bezzechi and Ottl used the V5 chassis which began to be used in the eighth series of the Dutch GP.

As for Binder and his teammate, Jorge Martin, using the V6 chassis. No other KTM racer got the same chassis until the end of the season.
