Adaptation in City Difficult Easy for Rodri

Rodri admitted it was not easy to be able to adapt to Manchester City's attacking football. But, Rodri enjoyed the process.

Rodri became one of City's purchases this summer after being bailed out from Atletico Madrid with a tag of 62.8 million euros. Rodri became the most expensive purchase in the club's history.

Bringing Rodri at a high price is certainly questionable given his position is only a defensive midfielder. But Rodri is considered important for City's transition process which is likely left by Fernandinho next season.

So the 2019/2020 season was made a learning season by Rodri in order to meet public expectations. Moreover, Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone's playing style is much different.

If Rodri plays with ultra defensive football with Atletico, at City he must adapt to attacking football. Rodri admitted it was not easy to do but important for his career at City.

Of the three City matches in all competitions, Rodri has always been a starter and played a total of 258 minutes.

"I feel better every day," Rodri said on the club's official website.

"It's good for me to be able to play because it's not easy to adapt to a team as dynamic as City - always wanting to attack, entertain," he continued.

"I'm trying to adapt as best as I can, I know I'm still learning. But I'm happy to learn because Pep Guardiola is very confident in me."

"I want to help the team with my style, but for now, I have to see what the style of team playing is like," he said.
