Liverpool Unbeatable, Jurgen Klopp Still Touches Man City

Liverpool are speeding in a positive trend since the first week of the 2019/20 Premier League. The Reds lead the standings with 9 perfect points from three matches so far.
Latest, Liverpool beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield. The win was special because it equaled the club record with 12 consecutive league wins, previously recorded by Sir Kenny Dalglish in 1990.

Now, the Reds have the opportunity to surpass the record in a visit to Burnley headquarters, Saturday (31/08/2019) evening hrs later. However, Jurgen Klopp actually emphasized that his team never cared about statistics like that.

Thinking forward

For Klopp, soccer is about looking forward, always focusing on the next match. True, statistics and history can help, but Klopp doesn't want his team to stay in the past.

"We did not think of it [12 consecutive wins in the league]. If no one told me, I don't think I would have known that we had recorded 12 consecutive wins," Klopp said at Liverpoolfc.com.

"I don't know when was the last time we lost, I don't know who we played 12 games ago, we don't think like that. We always focus on the next game."

Man City pressure

Furthermore, Klopp knew that seeing the past would only depress his team. He does not want Liverpool to continue to be compared to Liverpool last season, especially compared to the strength of Man City in the hunt for the title.

"What you [the media] do is expect us to go through this season like last season, especially Man City - maybe we also have to anticipate that," added Klopp.

"However, we cannot judge our season, our situation, compare it to the situation of Man City. 'If we lose points, the competition is over'."

"It can't be like that, because we will face great pressure," he concluded.
