Eric Cantona's Weird Welcome at UEFA Awards Night

Eric Cantona, a living legend in French football, has been awarded the UEFA Presidential Award this year. The prize was given based on his struggle until then in the realization of the humanitarian mission.

On the eve of the award ceremony held on Thursday (8/29), Cantona appeared on stage and gave a speech. What the former Manchester United player is trying to convey is unclear. However, the message was very strange and seemed forced.

It will look even stranger if translated into Indonesian. He quoted a poem from one of the famous poets, Shakespeare. Several expressions were shown in his remarks.

"Sooner or later, science will find a way not to grow old and humans will live forever, only war and evil can kill humans, war will always happen, but war and crime will multiply it." "Love football, thank you," he said.

Nevertheless, those present continued to appreciate by applying a standing ovation. This prize is indeed given to people who struggle and who leave football.

Since retiring, Cantona has participated in several soccer campaigns. In fact, he also promotes beach soccer as another alternative sport. On this basis, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin felt it was appropriate to award him this year.
