AS Roma Officially Borrowed Chris Smalling from Manchester United
Serie A club AS Roma have finally officially completed the process of loaning defender Chris Smalling from the Premier League giants Manchester United.
Through their official website, Rome states that Smalling is charged with a loan for one full season, aka 30 June 2020.
Roma will pay a loan fee of 3 million euros to Manchester United. There is no permanent purchase option in the agreement of the two clubs.
Happiness Chris Smalling
Smalling, who will wear the number 6 jersey in Rome, cannot hide his excitement after officially moving to Italy.
"This is the perfect opportunity for me. The opportunity to try out a new league, with a large team that has extraordinary aspirations is of course what I need," Smalling said.
"Hopefully I can run on the field soon. I can't wait to join my team-mates," the 29-year-old added.
Smalling career
The name Smalling first came out when he played for Fulham before being recruited by Manchester United in 2010.
Smalling is almost always a mainstay at Manchester United's back line from season to season. But the arrival of Harry Maguire made Smalling not included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans for this season.
Together with Manchester United, Smalling has presented a series of prestigious trophies, including two Premier League titles, up to one FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League each.
