Rins Champion, Silverstone Still No Man's Land
Silverstone - Alex Rins won the British MotoGP race in 2019. This victory extended the circuit record without a Silverstone man.
The Suzuki driver managed to finish first after winning a fierce duel against Marc Marquez. Rins passed the Honda racer at the last corner to win the race with a difference of 0.013 seconds.
This is Rins' second victory over his career in MotoGP after winning the American series in the third race of the season. The success of the 23-year-old player has also maintained a Silverstone record without dominance since 2013.
Jorge Lorenzo is the last driver to win the title in England for two consecutive seasons. The Spaniard managed to dominate the Silverstone circuit in 2012 and 2013.
Since then, different riders have reached the first podium. Starting with Marc Marquez who won in 2014, followed by Valentino Rossi (2015), Maverick Vinales (2016), Andrea Dovizioso (2017) and finally Rins.
Especially for Marquez, the failure to reach the podium this time added to bad luck during the race in England. Since his victory in 2014, he still hasn't managed to conquer the circuit.
The ruling MotoGP champion falls at the 2015 race in wet track conditions. In 2017, it was not finished because the engine broke down, causing the motor smoke.
