Failed to recover: Juan Martín del Potro confirmed that the US Open will disappear

No se alcanzó a recuperar: Juan Martín del Potro confirmó que se perderá el US Open

Argentine tennis player Juan Martín del Potro (12th ATP) confirmed on Tuesday that he would not be able to participate in the US Open because he had not recovered from the knee surgery he underwent last June.

Del Potro, 30, who in 2009 declared himself the champion of the last Grand Slam tournament this season, said the operation to repair a broken right knee had been a success.

But the recovery hasn't reached him to get to the tournament in full condition and compete at the highest level, as he always does on the Flushing Meadows track, where he is one of New York's public favorites.

USTA, in charge of organizing the tournament, on Tuesday confirmed the withdrawal of "Torre de Tandil", which wants to complete a major recovery.

On July 31, the Argentinian shared a video on his social network that was full of enthusiasm and with exhilarating content when he saw himself walking on a gym belt.

But Del Potro, who suffered another knee injury in the Fever-Tree Championship, ultimately did not have enough recovery time to allow him to arrive on time at the US Open.
