Kanu Upset Arsenal Take Iwobi to Everton
Arsenal legend Nwankwo Kanu is not happy with the Gunners' decision to sell Alex Iwobi to Everton. He said the 23-year-old was ready to die for the London Cannon.
"I would 100% say that Arsenal made a mistake, why they let Iwobi go, I don't know, he's a boy who goes in and out of the Arsenal first team. He likes the club, but he can play anywhere," Kanu said on Soccerway.
"What he brings week after week, fans must appreciate, I think he is young and that is the kind of person you want in the team, people who grow up here, who know everything about the club and are ready to die for Arsenal."
Iwobi's blow took place on the closing day of the 2019 summer transfer window. Quite surprising because Iwobi was one of Arsenal's main pillars last season.
Previously, there was not much speculation about the possibility of moving from Iwobi to Everton. But the Nigerian finally landed at Goodison Park with a transfer value of 40 million pounds, or around 692 billion rupees.
"Iwobi is one of the club's target players, so we lost him and let him go, this is a surprise." "I really can't believe Arsenal succeeded, but it was football," Kanu said.
Iwobi himself defended Arsenal since 2015. He has recorded 149 appearances with a collection of 15 goals.
