Fekir: Liverpool Lied about My Transfer Failure
French midfielder Nabil Fekir has accused Liverpool of lying about the failure of his transfer in the summer of 2018. What actually happened?
"A lot of lies are told and touched me, especially those who talk about my family and it's all wrong," Fekir told Soccerway.
"What Liverpool said is not true, my knees are good, I have had a medical examination at Clairefontaine (with the French national team), there is no discussion about my knee. His knee is in very bad condition, will President Lyon try to keep me?"
"But the worst thing is that the idea of a transfer to Liverpool did not happen because of my family, it's a lie, but you have to live with it, do you want the truth, I don't know. Not really."
Fekir almost joined Liverpool early last season. However, the transfer was canceled by the Reds because of the 26-year-old's knee problem. Fekir said there were no knee problems at the time.
"I underwent a medical and then Liverpool decided to cancel the transfer and at one point they wanted me to believe it was because of the knee, but you have to find the reason."
"The medical examination I did at Clairefontaine was very clear, my knee was fine and I felt fine, there was no problem with my knee," Fekir said.
Fekir himself has now left Lyon. He moved to Spain at the start of the season and moved to Real Betis.
