Quartararo Brilliant, Yamaha Petronas Answer Doubts
Jakarta - Fabio Quartararo has a surprising performance at the 2019 MotoGP. SRT Petronas Yamaha boss Razlan Razali confirmed that Quartararo's success was the answer to doubt.
Petronas Yamaha, which debuted in the queen category, promoted Quartararo together with Franco Morbidelli. However, among those who doubted Quartararo, many were inconclusive after only finishing tenth in Moto2 2018.
However, the young French driver has been the biggest sensation in MotoGP this season: Quartararo has climbed the podium three times and has won pole position three times. As a result, Quartararo now has 92 points in eighth position in the MotoGP standings, only two points behind Jack Miller, who has become the best racer in the satellite team in the meantime.
"There is no doubt that the biggest surprise came from Fabio, when we announced him as the second runner, many people told us that we had made the wrong choice," Razali told GPOne.
"But now, everyone agrees that we made the right choice!" He created the biggest surprise of the season, with a podium, pole position, top five and top ten.
"He is extraordinary and very talented, able to win pole position and second place in his first European series at Jerez is truly extraordinary," said Razali.
Quartararo did not finish after falling in the British MotoGP last weekend. The 21-year-old is now looking for a refund in the San Marino series on September 15.
