Brown starred when Luton saw Tractor Boys in the Carabao Cup

Elliot Lee tucks home his penalty this evening

Carabao Cup, first round: Luton Town 3 Ipswich Town 1

Luton City reached the second round of the Carabao Cup tonight with a comfortable 3-1 win over League One Ipswich Town.

The Hatters exchanged their entire team for the match, with the full debut handed to Brendan Galloway and James Bree's trio of loans, Izzy Brown, who were excellent all night, plus Manchester City youngster Luke Bolton.

Defender Lloyd Jones starts his first non-Checkatrade Trophy match, with Andrew Shinnie captaining the team, James Shea returning to goal and Kazenga LuaLua returning as well.

Brown showed some good skills from the start, beating two men and finally shooting in an easy 20 yard effort for Will Norris.

The guard was extended a few moments later, Elliot Lee sent Harry Cornick away, his attempt to switch to the bar and behind by Norris.

There was nothing the stopper could do at eight minutes when a corner was chipped as far as Brown and he fired a beautiful cross for Jones to head the ball into the corner for Hatters' first goal.

Ipswich tried to retaliate, Armando Dobra's effort was easy for Shea, but they were left against him in the 17th minute, Josh Emmanuel wrestling Lee to the floor in the penalty box, leaving referee Brett Huxtable with a weak choice but giving a penalty.

Lee took it himself, confidently sending Norris the wrong way for his first goal of the season.

Now in full control, Town is almost a third, LuaLua's bold film is blocked, and Luke Berry drags a sidefooter 20 meters wide.

Chelsea's loanee Brown has had an extraordinary debut, showing real quality in possession with good passes, going forward with a real goal, regardless of Lee, who can't beat Norris.

Shinnie went to aim from 25 yards, his daisycutter inches from the bottom corner with Norris beaten, while Brown found LuaLua, who didn't miss much.

Luton made two changes to the second half, Josh Neufville and Martin Cranie replacing Bolton and LuaLua.

They continued to attack, Cornick speeding to find Lee through Brown's pass, the attacker curving down the target.

Town got their place in the sewn third round in the 55th minute, Shinnie won a free kick on the edge of the box and then calmly put the set-piece ball into the corner past poor Norris.

Lee's efforts after Brown's more brilliant game took place with Ipswich guards, while the visitors finally had a chance to note, Andre Dozzell's explosion was brought down by Shea.

Galloway was then asked to get out of line after Shea missed his punch, while Cornick drilled at the other end.

Brown's extraordinary debut ended in the 66th minute, replaced by Callum McManaman, to a standing ovation from the crowd of appreciative hosts, who had already sung his name.

Town continued to liven up his style, backheel Lee sent McManaman through and Norris intelligently to drive away his efforts.

The visitors then had hope with 15 minutes left, Dobra was allowed to run and run, before his shot flicked the defender to leave Shea with the wrong foot.

Luton almost returned their three-goal cushion instantly, Bree rose highest with only a wide view, but they saw the last moment with little alarm to pass.
