"Van Dijk fully deserves the Golden Ball"

Liverpool - Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian supports Virgil van Dijk with the 2019 Golden Ball. Van Dijk is one of the strongest competitors for the Ballon d'Or winner.

Van Dijk became one of the key players in Liverpool's success in 2018/19. The Dutch international defender looks solid to help the Reds win the UEFA Champions League title and become competitive in the Premier League despite being second behind Manchester City.

However, it is estimated that Van Dijk is very competitive with superstars like Lionel Messi (Barcelona) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) in the golden ball race.

"And what I can say about Virgil is that he is no stranger," Adrian said in the United States, quoted by Bleacher Report.

"We are discussing his status as a Golden Ball winner, and for me, he deserves it, it is not easy for you to become a Premier League defender, and he shows a spectacular level.

Van Dijk's persistence at the heart of Liverpool's defense allowed him to be juxtaposed with Real Madrid defender and captain Sergio Ramos. With Van Dijk's current level, it's difficult for Adrian to determine who is the best of both.

"It's very difficult, yes, for me they are the two best center-backs in the world and will create an unstoppable duo in any team, and I think with them up front, any goalkeeper in the world will feel very safe," Adrian said.
