Valentino Rossi During the YZR-M, this year's preseason test.
The Yamaha Monster Energy racer, Valentino Rossi, underwent a free training session at the Malaysian MotoGP at the Sepang Circuit.
MotoGP riders returned to the track to undergo the final pre-season MotoGP 2020 test which took place at Losail International Circuit, Qatar, on February 22-24.
Valentino Rossi became one of the drivers who also took advantage of the preseason test session to prepare themselves to appear competitive in the 2020 season.
Moreover, 2020 MotoGP will be Rossi's last season as a racer on the Yamaha manufacturer's team.
On the first day of the test, Saturday (2/23/2020), the rider nicknamed The Doctor was only able to occupy the seventh position.
Drove with the YZR-M1 2020 motorbike, Rossi recorded a lap time of 1 minute 54.876 seconds.
The record time was 0.4 seconds adrift of the record speed of the fastest racer, Alex Rins (Suzuki Ecstar), with 1 minute 54.462 seconds.
After completing the first day pre-season test, Rossi also considered the motorbike has become the YZR-M1 2020 as a whole.
The assessment arises because the various developments and innovations made by Yamaha have been put together since the pre-season test at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.
"We know that plans for innovations have been realized since in Malaysia," said Rossi,
The winner of nine world titles guarantees that there will be no significant changes with the bike at least until the seventh series of MotoGP 2020.
"This motorbike will remain like this, at least until MotoGP 2020 enters the racing series in Catalunya," Rossi said.
Nevertheless, Rossi still expects small breakthroughs from Yamaha to make it able to compete in the race for the championship podium.
"There are still small things we have to try, such as using a different suspension and other devices. However, this is what our motorbike is today," said Valentino Rossi.
