The dispute between Lionel Messi and Eric Abidal gave rise to rumors of the player's move from Barcelona.
It was widely heard that Manchester City was at the forefront to immediately hunt down the player's signature if it really left.
Former Barcelona midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, commented on the rumors of Messi's move to the Etihad Stadium.
Petit said that the Argentine would find it difficult to play with Man City because he was not built to play in the English League.
This is different from Cristiano Ronaldo who previously played with Manchester United in the English League from 2003 to 2009.
"Messi is not Cristiano Ronaldo who physically looks very different. Ronaldo is indeed a monster, if Messi will only be able to play at the highest level in one or two years."
"I honestly think he won't fit in the English league, he doesn't like his moves to be closed and disturbed. When in Spain, he is protected," he said.
Barcelona will not rush to play Lionel Messi
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola also gave input to Messi to stay with Barcelona.
