His interest in Anfernee Dijksteel is another support from the Addicks coaching staff according to manager Lee Bowyer.
The right-back has caught the attention of a number of the Championship this summer even though Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet said he would not be sold.
The 22-year-old was at the edge of the team at the start of last season, but appeared to win a dispute with Chris Solly for the right-back jersey that peaked at the start in a play-off victory at Wembley in May.
With just one year left on his current contract, Charlton has rejected two offers for the Dutchman as they prepare for their season opener at Blackburn on Saturday.
"He's another young man who only had one full season last season and now, suddenly, the club is interested," Bowyer said.
"Middlesbrough entered, the owner said he was not for sale, we had talked to the owner and explained the situation,
"Middlesbrough is coming again and Bristol City is also interested.
"It shows the work we do here behind the scenes is good."

Dijksteel is a product of other Youth Academies that have made a move to the first team today.
Dillon Phillips, Albie Morgan and George Lapslie all passed into Bowyer's plans last season and Dijksteel seems to have started.
Bowyer, praising his staff as he provided evidence of developments he and his team were capable of when he pointed to the work they were doing with last season's loan players Krystian Bielik and Josh Cullen.
"Krystian might go to Derby for £ 10 million, this time a year, what's the value of him?"
"Josh is now in and around West Ham's first team and they look after him.
"Joe Aribo has gone and played in Scotland.
"Karlan (Grant) went to Huddersfield.
"All these young people have come here and developed but are now developing elsewhere.
"It's nice to see these young players coming and developing, but it hurts us at the same time they leave, we have to keep juggling and rebuilding.
"Then West Ham and Arsenal see what we do with their children when they lend it to us and so we can build that relationship with them for the future."
One graduate of the Academy who had a memorable season last campaign was goalkeeper Phillips.
The mistake at Wembley might overshadow the extraordinary promotion season for the 24-year-old, but Bowyer is aware of its quality.
Goalkeeper and former Addick Ben Amos returned to the club this summer to challenge Phillips for the number one jersey, and until now, the fight is still very ongoing according to Bowyer.
"I haven't decided yet, I haven't talked to them.
"But I know I have two good ones.
"Fight out there every day.
"One day I leaned to one, then I leaned on to the other, but when I stood up I hadn't decided."
