Scientists prove Messi is two times better than Ronaldo

The debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo about who is the best is always difficult to explain. Scientists come and prove that La Pulga is better.

Messi, the Barcelona striker, and Ronaldo, a former Real Madrid star who is currently in uniform with Juventus, are the two best players of the decade. Both won five Golden Ball titles, before Luka Modric broke their dominance last year.

According to the Evening Standard, the Institute of Education and Research at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) examined the performance of Messi and Ronaldo in the league for five years. The result, Messi is the best.

Professor Jesse Davis explained that, in general, the players were only measured by goals and assistance. The research he did was deeper, that is, touching shots, bait and tackles.

Using the VAEP (Stock Valuation with Estimating Variant) method, the valuation is calculated to determine the number of players involved in the match to get a more complete picture.

"The value of a soccer player is often determined by goals and help - goals are a rare moment, with an average of 1,600 actions expected in each match," Davis said.

The result, Messi has a VAEP score of 1.21 per game. The score was double that of Ronaldo, who only scored 0.61.

Described separately by doctoral student Tom Decroos, Messi's and Ronaldo scores were almost the same during the first season or 2014/2015. But since 2015/2016, Messi began to move away from Ronaldo.

"We see a balance in most soccer players: they do a lot of actions with lower scores, which happened to Paul Pogba, for example, for example," Decroos said.

"Or you have players who tend to hit the ball, but they have a big impact, it's typical of strikers like Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Ronaldo."

"Messi is extraordinary in this field: Argentine players have a very large number of shares and they also have high scores," Decroos said.
