Italy Needs a Red Card to Win 3-1 in the stable of Armenia
Italy were shocked by the great appearance of the Armenian host. He needs a red card and two goals from Andrea Belotti to bring home three points on Friday (6/9).
Nazionale maintained the perfect start to the 2020 European Cup qualifiers after winning five of the five Group J matches, but needed a red card against opposing players, two goals from Andrea Belotti to win 3-1.
Gli Azzurri won a fifth successive win and conceded only one goal so far against Bosnia. They travel to Armenia, who are third in the Group J. classification. The hosts are a bit scary because they just won 3-2 when they travel to Greece with Roma's new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Italy was shocked by Armenia's fierce resistance
Until the end of the first round of qualifying matches for the European Cup 2020, the score remained as strong as 1-1. In fact, Italy is superior to everything. The domain number of the ball, the number of top attacks on the target and the top shot outside the target. But the host gave fierce resistance which led to 14 offenses, three yellow cards and one red card given by referee Daniel Siebert (Germany) against Alexander Karapetian.
A goal by Alexander Karapetian in the 11th minute shocked the visitors before Turin captain Andrea Belotti evened the score 17 minutes later, as a result of Emerson's help. After Armenia only played with 10 people since the end of the first half, Italy managed to utilize the number of superior players to increase speed and score two more goals through Lorenzo Pellegrini in the 77th minute and then Belotti contributed a goal in the 80th minute.
Almost all of Italy's attacks took place through Emerson on the left wing, producing a series of corner shots, while Belotti could register a hat-trick in an overnight match. His second goal in the first half in the form of a good volley was denied offside.
A red card for Armenia is too cruel
The red card for Armenian goalscorer Alexander Karapetian at the end of the first half was actually rather controversial. There was a bit of a fight between Karapetian and Marco Verratti, but German referee Daniel Siebert raised a second yellow card because Leonardo Bonucci was considered to be an elbow. Repetition shows that the decision of the two yellow cards is too cruel.
Italy managed to survive the last 10 minutes of the match to escape with three points which now give them 15 points at the top of Group J. Results 3-1 for Gli Azzurri's victory as expected. Nazionale managed to maintain a distance of three points above Finland in second place in the group classification.
