Cardinals is currently exploring commercial options involving infielder Jedd Gyorko because the 30-year-old is almost ready to return from the list of injured and tweeted Derrick Goold from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. St. Louis moved Gyorko to the list of victims 60 days today, but he had spent 52 days in IL so he could return a week after the trade deadline.
Gyorko, 30, has played 38 matches with Cardinals and has just appeared 62 times. Gyorko opens the season in Illinois because the strain of the calf is weak but has remained open since early June due to lumbar tension which, according to Goold, is now completely healed. The acquisition of Paul Goldschmidt pushed Matt Carpenter to the third base and Gyorko did not start again with Paul DeJong or Kolten Wong when he was in good health. In the absence of IL Gyorko at the time, Yairo Munoz and Tommy Edman both appeared in the department, although no one achieved the same level of success as Gyorko in good health during the last. season.
Clubs who are interested in Gyorko will certainly be interested in their intelligence and offensive background. He appeared in all four midfield positions as a big league, including more than 2,000 innings in second and third bases, almost 500 innings at short stops and more than one hundred innings at first base. In general, Gyorko received a positive score in third place and could be passed to the second base, even though he was not considered a quality defender at the stopover.
That said, he has been a very productive bat all the time with the Cardinals, recording clips of .256 / .328 / .456 with 63 songs, 49 doubles and four times in 1383 appearances since 2016. Gyorko made $ 9 million this season and still owes $ 3 million plus a $ 1 million purchase for the $ 13 million club option for the 2020 season.
