Kieran Trippier was sold by Tottenham Hotspur to Atletico Madrid in the transfer market this season. He called The Lilywhites had sold it wrong.
So far Trippier has performed satisfactorily with Atletico. He has always been fielded by coach Diego Simeone in the first three LaLiga parties this season.
During these three matches, the team from the Spanish capital successfully wiped out the victory and Trippier contributed one assist. Trippier was then praised by the Spanish football public.
Commenting on his move to Spain this season, Trippier claimed that Tottenham had sold it wrong. According to him, Tottenham at that time should have given him a break from rest, which was undergoing recovery from a groin injury.
"Tottenham sold me at the wrong time, because I only needed four weeks to recover so that I could be fit again," Trippier was quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
The 28-year-old player admitted that he actually still wanted to stay in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But the club decided to send him to Atletico.
"It was very disappointing. I have given everything to the club and I want to stay. I still have a few years to stay, but everything must have a reason."
"I should have stayed there, but I'm not sorry. I'm at Atletico now and focus on looking to the future," he said.
The England national team defender was sold by Tottenham for 23 million euros (Rp. 358 billion) and costumed Los Rojiblancos until 2023.
