Wenger has tried to recruit Ronaldo and Messi to Arsenal

Arsene Wenger revealed that he had tried to recruit Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal. However, his efforts were failed.
Wenger has a strong instinct in seeing the talents of young players. Thanks to that, the Gunners have players like Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Cesc Fabregas.

Therefore, the French manager was able to sniff out two very talented young players in the early 2000s. At that time, Ronaldo and Messi still each played at Sporting Lisbon and Barcelona.

The former Arsenal coach almost brought Ronaldo to the Emirates. However, he was defeated by Manchester United in 2003.
Ronaldo then transformed into one of the best players in the Premier League. The failure to bring Ronaldo makes Wenger very sorry until now.

When asked if he had ever tried to recruit Ronaldo, Wenger told beIN SPORTS USA: "Yes, you have to live with regrets with a business that was not reached.

Wenger also held talks with Messi shortly after signing Fabregas. However, the Argentine international has not been touched at Barcelona.
The 69-year-old manager also dismissed news that La Pulga was given an Arsenal jersey during talks.
"Never [Messi was given an Arsenal jersey]," he continued.

"We were discussing with him when we bought Fabregas.
"Sometimes you can realize what a fantastic teen team you have when you are a club like Barcelona.
