Mourinho: Ronaldo will always score 50
At the age of three, Cristiano Ronaldo still beat the record. Jose Mourinho predicts that Ronaldo will still score even after hanging up.
Ronaldo scored four goals when Portugal faced Lithuania in the 2020 European Cup qualifiers. These goals allowed Portugal to win a landslide victory 5-1 over Lithuania.
With these four goals, Ronaldo is now considered the player with the most goals in qualifying for the European Cup (24). He passed the record of the legendary Republic of Ireland player, Robbie Keane (23 years).
Mourinho admitted he was not surprised by Ronaldo's achievements. The former Manchester United coach predicted that Ronaldo would still actively score goals in demonstration matches after retiring.
"What doesn't surprise Cristiano for me is that at the age of 34, he is a top player who plays in a top-flight team with big ambitions," Mourinho told Portugal TV Channel. 11, reported by Mirror.
"That doesn't surprise me because this is a genetic and mental case study," said the former Ronaldo coach at Real Madrid.
"That is a phenomenon, someone who just thinks of winning and doing it better, which is why I am not surprised by what he does."
"When he is 50, he will go home and FIFA will invite him to a legendary match, he will play and score goals and I am sure it will be like that," Mourinho said.
