Icardi is a sweet surprise for PSG
Paris Saint-Germain brought Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan on the last day of the summer transfer window. Marco Verratti called it a sweet surprise.
PSG borrowed Icardi from Inter for a season with a permanent option. Parisians spent 5 million euros on the cost of borrowing the Argentine striker.
With Icardi coming, PSG now has a group of leading attackers. Previously, they already had Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani.
PSG midfielder Marco Verratti did not expect Icardi to join this summer because there were no previous rumors. He thought the 26-year-old would really help the team.
"Icardi at PSG was a pleasant surprise, I didn't expect it until yesterday, it will help us," Verratti said at Rai Sport.
"We are a good team, but competition makes players grow. If you want to win and be competitive in all competitions, you have to have players like him."
"Some attackers seem to be in the penalty area, he will help us, help us grow, and he will grow too," he added.
