Ultras Inter Defends Cagliari Fans: There Is No Racism To Lukaku
Inter Milan hardline supporter, Curva Nord defends Cagliari fans who cheered Romelu Lukaku. They felt it was not racial harassment.
Lukaku got racial harassment when Inter Milan won 2-1 victory over Cagliari at the Sardegna Arena on Monday (2/9/2019) early morning hrs. He got that dishonorable treatment from the home fans when he was going to execute a penalty.
Racial harassment against Lukaku intensified when he was able to convert the penalty into a Nerazzurri winning goal. In a video circulating on social media, Cagliari supporters cheered on the Belgian player by imitating a monkey's voice.
The actions of the supporters of the Sardania team clearly received criticism from many parties. The reason is not this time they did racial harassment to black players. Previously Moise Kean, Blaise Matuidi, Sulley Muntari had felt something like Lukaku.
But Inter hardliners who are members of Ultras L'Urlo della Nord actually take a different attitude. They defended the actions of Cagliari fans through an open letter they wrote on Facebook.
"Hi Romelu. We write to you on behalf of Curva Nord, yes people who welcomed you when you arrived in Milan. We are truly sorry that you think that what happened in Cagliari is racism, writes Curva Nord.
"You have to understand that Italy is not like many other northern European countries where racism is a real problem. We understand that it can look racist to you, but it's not like that."
"In Italy we use several 'methods' only to 'help our team' and try to make our opponents nervous. This is not racism but to disrupt their concentration," he added.
Cuva Nord considers the action taken by Cagliari fans as a form of support for their favorite team. Lukaku is expected to be proud to accept the terror. The reason it became one form of recognition of the ability of the former Chelsea striker.
"We are not racists and not fans of Cagliari. You must understand that in all Italian stadiums people cheer not only for their teams but also for opponents. This is not for racism but for 'helping' the team," he continued.
"Please consider this attitude of the Italian fans as a form of respect for the fact that they are afraid of your goalscoring ability. Not because they hate you or they are racist,
