Ederson Admits Alisson Deserves to Win FIFA Best Goalkeeper Award

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson admitted Alisson Becker was indeed worthy of winning the 2019 FIFA Best Goalkeeper award.

Previously, FIFA announced that three goalkeepers were nominated for the award. Ederson and Alisson were nominated.

Another one is Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter-Stegen. But in the end, Alisson was chosen to win the award.

Alisson performed nicely together with Liverpool and the Brazilian national team. He helped the Reds win the Champions League trophy and helped the 2019 Copa America Selecao winners.

He really failed to bring Liverpool league champions. But he won the most clean sheets.

Ederson himself also performed nicely along with City. He led his club to be champions in three different domestic competitions.

However, with great heart he called Alisson deserved to win. Because he acknowledged that his compatriot was indeed superior to him.

"I think the three of us are the best. But I see Alisson one step ahead," he said as reported by Goal International.

"He is great in the Premier League, won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and also has a great Copa America," said Ederson
Alisson currently has a calf injury. He also had to pull over for several weeks.

As a result he could not play also for the Brazilian national team who will undergo friendly matches against Colombia and Peru. His position will be filled by Ederson.

"We all know the great period in which Alisson lived. And I had fun too. Of course, this is an opportunity," he exclaimed.

"As a player, you have to be prepared for everything. I practice as if I'm always playing, which makes it easier to use."

"I hope to make the best use of the opportunities I have here and I will give my best," concluded Ederson.

Ederson will later defend Brazil against Colombia in Miami on Saturday. After that the match against Peru was held four days later in Los Angeles.
