No kidding, the striker who is still the most expensive player in the world was targeted by Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The world was made to wait for who finally won in 'El Clasico' in the transfer market. People are curious about the value of Neymar this time - after two years ago moving to PSG at a price of Rp 3.4 trillion.

But the tug of war and tough negotiations carried out by Barcelona did not produce results. Even club messengers sent directly to the City of Paris were forced to go home empty-handed. As the transfer market closed on 2 September, Neymar is confirmed to stay at PSG this season.

Barcelona is not serious about chasing Neymar. According to Spanish and French media, Barca has repeatedly submitted proposals. The value is certainly not kidding. With the trade-in strategy, Barca's bid valuation reaches above 200 million euros.

There are at least four players who tried to be presented by Barca to PSG as a complement to a number of funds that have been prepared. Ivan Rakitic is the most frequently mentioned, then there are also Nelson Semedo, Ousmane Dembele, and Samuel Umtiti.
PSG persisted with its stance, that Neymar will only be sold to those who want to buy it completely. Not trade in with some players.

There are several versions about the amount of money requested by PSG for clubs interested in Neymar. Marca mentioned 150 million euros (Rp 2.3 trillion), while Sport claimed a value of 200 million euros. Some other media call different numbers but are still in the same range
But still, Barcelona was unable to fulfill that request. Adding several players to the bid proposal is the last strategy that Barca has.

President Josep Maria Bartomeu knew from the start that the attempt to bring back Neymar was a very difficult matter. Money may not be a problem, but the rules of Financial Fair Play are the main prop.

Barcelona this summer has spent 120 million euros for Antoine Griezmann, then another 75 million euros to transport Frenkie de Jong. There is also Neto, Emerson, Junior Firpo, who spent a total of 56 million euros to be taken to Camp Nou.

As an illustration of Barcelona's financial condition, in the 2018/2019 season, Barcelona recorded income of 990 million euros. This figure is up compared to the previous period which amounted to 914 million euros. However, club profits fell by 17 million euros.

Failure to get Neymar should not affect Barcelona on the field much. As requested by Lionel Messi, Barca must increasingly use his young players. Ansu Fati's appearance at the beginning of this season is valid proof that Barca actually never run out of great talent from the academy.
