Attack crisis, Barcelona even lent Rafinha to Celta
Barcelona is in attack crisis. But, that did not prevent Los Cules from lending (again) Rafinha to another club. This time Celta Vigo.
Barcelona had a bad start this season by just collecting four points from three matches. This could not be separated from the storm of injury on their front lines after Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele were injured together.
So only Antoine Griezmann, a senior striker relied on by Barcelona. In addition, Barcelona instead rely on Carles Perez and Rafinha, two players graduated from La Masia, in the first three matches.
But, Perez will be defended Barcelona this season after they decided to loan Rafinha to another club. The Brazilian striker will spend the rest of the 2019/2020 season with Celta Vigo, after he extended his contract at Barcelona until 2021 on Monday (2/9/2019) local time.
Celta has no permanent option in the loan contract and must pay the player's salary around 1.5 million euros per season. Rafinha is recovering from a knee ligament injury that has forced him to be absent since November 2018.
The 26-year-old has indeed not developed much with Barcelona since his debut in 2011. He only appeared 90 times with a score of 12 goals and was also loaned to Inter Milan in January 2018 but failed to be permanent.
Celta is not a new club for Rafinha because it had spent the loan period there in 2013/2014. At that time Celta was still trained by Luis Enrique and Rafinha made four goals in 33 appearances.
