Arsenal players claimed difficult to digest Unai Emery's tactics
Former Arsenal player Alan Smith gave his analysis regarding Arsenal's recent performance. Smith assessed the Arsenal players did not perform optimally because they did not understand the desirable tactics applied by Unai Emery.
Since last season, Arsenal have a new captain in their coach seats. They are now handled by Unai Emery after Arsene Wenger decides to resign.
So far there are positive symptoms that the Gunners' squad has developed under Emery's leadership. But sometimes the team from North London appears inconsistent so they fail to get full points.
Smith assessed the inconsistency of this performance because the Arsenal players had difficulty understanding Emery's tactics. "I think the situation is proceeding because of the players' lack of understanding," Smith explained in his column for the Evening Standard.
Smith himself admitted that he won a leak from the club's internal sources regarding the current Arsenal situation.
He mentioned many Arsenal players who experienced confusion in understanding the commands given by Emery.
"I get the whisper that many players are confused by the manager's instructions. They don't understand very well what their coach wants."
Smith considers that Arsenal players' lack of understanding of Emery's tactics has the potential to become a thorn in the flesh.
For that he asked Emery to immediately resolve this situation so that his team's performance could be better.
"If it really happens, then that is not a good sign. For that Emery must immediately state it clearly to his players." he added.
Arsenal will play away on the fifth week of the EPL this season.
They will challenge Watford on Vicarage Road on Sunday (9/15) tonight.
