Madrid - Real Madrid brought Alphonse Areola from Paris Saint-Germain. The 26-year-old goalkeeper became the first Filipino-born player to wear the Los Blancos costume.

Areola was loaned to Madrid by PSG this summer. The transfer became a lubricant for Keylor Navas transfers which were sold to Parisians.

Aréola is the French team goalkeeper. However, he also has Filipino blood from his parents. Fox Sports said that Areola was the first Filipino player to wear a Madrid costume.

Areola himself began his career in France in 2006, when he was kidnapped by PSG. Two years later, he also defended the French national team under 16 years. In 2011, he was invited to join the Philippine national team, but he chose to remain costumed, the Blues.

Areola has been loaned to various clubs such as Lens, Bastia and Villarreal. In 2016/2017, he was repatriated by PSG and was able to go up and down to replace Kevin Trapp and Gianluigi Buffon.

With PSG, Areola played 107 times with 87 goals conceded and made 53 white sheets. Now he has moved to Madrid on a seasonal loan.

Areola transfers are also making a fuss in the Philippines. Many residents welcomed the move that led Didier Deschamps to his victory at the 2018 World Cup.

"Alphonse Areola is from the Philippines. If anyone knows that a Filipino player has been forgotten at Real Madrid, give me some data, I don't remember," wrote the Twitter account @RMadridLoves.

"Real Madrid are recruiting Areola, Filipinos around the world must rejoice," wrote @CPitoz.

"Alphonse Areola will become the second world champion with France in # Russia2018 who will wear a Real Madrid jersey after Varane in 2012, a good starter, especially from the Philippines," wrote the account @ marioal98584586.
