Wenger believes Arsenal can challenge City and Liverpool in the Premier League
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger thinks the Gunners can challenge Manchester City and Liverpool in the hunt for the Premier League title this season.
Arsenal were only able to finish fifth in the Premier League last season. In addition, the Gunners also became runners up in the Europa League stage.
However, Arsenal have improved in the transfer market this summer. They managed to bring in a number of players such as Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney and David Luiz.
Unai Emery's team started the Premier League this season well after beating Newcastle United and Burnley. However, they lost to Liverpool before reaching a draw against Tottenham at the weekend.
The Gunners are currently fifth in the Premier League standings with seven points. They are five behind the league leaders Liverpool.
Wenger believes that the club he has worked on for more than two decades has a better chance of winning the title than Manchester United and Chelsea.
"Maybe the team that has potential is Arsenal who can approach them.
"Chelsea look rather young, not mature enough at the front and not mature enough at the back. Man Utd has not found a definite way in which they can be called to fight for the competition."
Wenger also analyzed the strengths of City and Liverpool. According to him, both teams have a great chance to become champions this season.
"They look quite comfortable, the two in front of them know they can do it. "Man City has a large technical level where they can always create opportunities," he said.
"Liverpool look very strong in the back line and in front they have a midfield that knows his job. Maybe less creative than Man City but they look a little ahead of the others.
