Philadelphia 76ers Will Introduce the Statue of Charles Barkley
Philadelphia 76ers will hold the opening ceremony of the statue of Charles Barkley. They make sculptures to honor the services of players when defending teams. This event will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019, local time.
Barkley spent a lot of time with the Sixers during his early years in the NBA. He played there for eight years. The Philadelphia team proposed it for the first time in the 1984 NBA draft. They had chosen it in fifth place.
Barkley has performed in 582 matches with the Sixers. He averaged 23.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1 block. The overall percentage of shots reached 57.6%. The overall effectiveness of the throw is 58.8%. The percentage of direct hits is 64%.
With the Sixers, Barkley is an elite player. He was able to enter a row of stars six times in a row in 1987-1992. At the same time, he also helped his team qualify for the playoffs with a record 50 wins three times. Unfortunately, they never won.
Barkley is stuck with the Sixers. He also moved to another team. The Sixers exchange it for the Phoenix Suns. He played there throughout 1992-96.
After defending the Sun, Barkley moved again. This time at the Houston Rockets. He appeared with the Texas team in 1996-2000. Unfortunately, there is a dead end there. Rockets are not champions.
Barkley himself never returned to the Sixers to continue his career in the NBA. He retired in 2000 as a Rockets player. But Barkley will remain one of the Sixers' best players. The team even took down number 34 Barkley jersey.
Barkley is no longer a player. However, the basketball world knows him as one of the elite players. Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame also put it in the legendary ranking. His name is in the history of basketball as the Hall of Famer.
Sixers know that. They helped him become a legendary player. Barkley also helped the Sixers become a terrible team in his day. Both parts become a kind of symbiotic mutualism. The Philadelphia team then honored him by making statues. Barkley is proud to have defended the Sixers.
