Manchester City Plans to Find Laporte Substitute in January Transfer Exchange

The news of the injury that befell Aymeric Laporte was a crushing blow to the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City. However, they did not think to look for a replacement in January.
The French defender had just undergone surgery on his right knee during the international break yesterday. According to predictions, Laporte will be absent in the next six months.

The situation is getting worse because Manchester City failed to get Vincent Kompany's replacement last summer. As is known, the Belgian defender chose to return to Anderlecht and undergo his new role as a player and coach.

Practically, Manchester City now only has John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi to stem the attacks of his opponents. There is also Fernandinho, who is actually better known as a defensive midfielder.
Manchester City is clearly at the forefront because of this situation. But Josep Guardiola as the coach has not thought to look for new faces in the defense sector to patch his weaknesses.

"My advice to you is don't write too many names about the transfer window in the winter, because you will make mistakes," Guardiola told media crews, quoted from Goal International.
"I'm not sure that will happen. I have heard that we are interested in these players or others. I want to say to all clubs in the world not to be nervous, because we are not interested in players or other central defenders in Europe," he continued.

Nevertheless, Guardiola did not rule out going to change his mind before the January transfer window opened. But for now, he prefers to survive with existing material.

"We will survive with the players we have. Maybe in December we will start thinking about that, maybe," he added.
"But we can't invest in situations like this in the summer, we can't do it in the winter either," said the former Barcelona coach.

The Stones and Otamendi duet will most likely be used when Manchester City meet Norwich City in the Premier League continued match on Saturday (9/14/19). The match will take place at Carrow Road Stadium.
