Joining Liverpool, this young defender wants to steal knowledge from Virgil van Dijk

The determination expressed by Sepp van den Berg. The new Liverpool defender hopes to learn a lot from compatriot Virgil van Dijk.

The 17-year-old defender has joined the Reds this summer. It was bought at a Dutch club, PEC Zwolle, with a dowry of only 1.7 million pounds.

At Liverpool, van den Berg is still struggling to get into the Liverpool first team. This is caused by the figure of Virgil van Dijk who seems to be really dominant in the defense of the Reds over the last two seasons.

van den Berg himself claimed that he was motivated to absorb the knowledge of his colleague. "Senior players taught me everything," van den Berg told Fox Sports.

Get advice

Van den Berg feels fortunate to join Liverpool because he has many seniors who are ready to lead him to become a better player.

"One of the players who taught me was Virgil van Dijk, who taught me how to win the Champions League final and that's football."

"Everyone gives me advice because I am young, so if I make a mistake, they will say it gently to me, but if I make a very fatal mistake, I will be reprimanded."

Stealing knowledge

Van den Berg also likes to be guided by Van Dijk. He mentioned that he wanted to absorb everything the elders taught.

"Everyone is helping me and I can learn a lot from Van Dijk, so when he gives me advice, I will remember them."

"If I make a mistake, they will tell me and I think I need to know things like that." he said.

Play in the junior team

Van den Berg himself has played three times in Liverpool's Under-23 team this season.

The 17-year-old defender also plays in Liverpool's Champions League this season.
