Emery Reveals Reasons for Not Bringing Oezil to Frankfurt

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, did not bring Mesut Özil in the Europa League opening match. But this season, the German midfielder is often on the bench.

Arsenal will continue their battle at the competition level of Europe's second club on Thursday (19/9) night. Instead of bringing the best resistance, Emery thus saved Oezil when visiting Germany.

Emery thinks he needs a rotation to overcome the busy schedule that hit Arsenal at the start of the competition. Oezil backup thinks it's one way to maintain the stamina of the players throughout the competition.

"We play a lot of games and I want to use different players. I want to change more than 11 players for the future, as well as 19 other players for tomorrow's match. Thus, Mesut Sokratis and must be included to rest," he was quoted as saying by SPORT.

"I also have to focus on Sunday's match (against Aston Villa). Therefore, I have to rest a number of players. So there are certain things that I have to think about other than just to play Mesut," said the former Sevilla coach.
