Defeat Cori Gauff, Naomi Osaka in the fourth round

Naomi Osaka participated in the fourth round of the 2019 US Open. The first seed was eliminating Cori Gauff in a match marked by an emotional end.

Located at the National Tennis Center Billie Jean King, USTA, Sunday (9/1/2019), the Osaka and Gauff teams played two rounds. Osaka showed his best performance to defeat his opponents aged 15 years 6-3 and 6-0.

But the story of the duel does not stop in the business of win-lose. After the match, Osaka invited his opponent, Coco, to conduct an interview after the match.


Coco canceled hearing the invitation.

"Initially, I said no because I knew I was going to cry, but he encouraged me to do it," Coco said.

"He is amazing, I will learn a lot from this game, he is very kind to me, so thank you, I don't want people to think I stole this moment from him, because he really deserves this achievement," added Coco, like reported by WTA Tennis.

For Coco, this is the first time he has participated in the US Open after attracting the attention of Wimbledon. He has the chance of a road joker. Osaka himself invited Coco to an interview to reward the young American player for his family and supporters.

"I just want to say that if you are still here, you are raising an extraordinary player, I remember often meeting you in the same place as us, and for me, the fact that we succeeded and we are still working as hard as possible is extraordinary," said Osaka

"I think you are extraordinary, Coco, in my opinion, you are extraordinary," he added.

In the fourth round, Osaka will face Belinda Bencic. Bencic escaped without competition after his opponent Anett Kontaveit retired due to illness.

Seventh seed Kiki Bertens quit in the third round after losing to German Julia Goerges. The Dutchman lost his first leg, 2-6 and 3-6 opponents who are in the 26th seed.

Caroline Wozniacki also failed to enter the fourth round. Danish seed 19th lost 4-6, 4-6 from Canadian 15th seed Bianca Andreescu.
